Sample design — not a real business

Tulsi Family Restaurant

Restaurant — Menu & Party Hall

01 · The problem

Plenty of food photos, but taken in daylight on a phone and posted with no price. The party hall — the highest-margin part of the business — was never mentioned at all.

02 · The approach

A dark template so food photography reads richer, a price on every dish post, and one party hall post every week during wedding season instead of only when someone asks.

03 · The result

The party hall now has its own thread of posts people can scroll back through when they are planning a tilak.

Six of the thirty posts in a monthly set. Each also ships in story size.

01

Before and after

Before

Food shot in flat daylight on a phone, posted with no price and no timing. The party hall — the highest-margin part of the business — appeared in the feed twice in a year.

After

A dark template that flatters food, a price on every dish, and one party hall post every week through wedding season.

02

What the month is made of

  • Dishes & thali 40%

One dish per post, with the price. The whole menu, released slowly over months.

  • Party hall 25%

A quarter of the month for the highest-margin part of the business, not an afterthought.

  • Offers & delivery 20%

Weekend offers and the delivery radius. Posted Thursday, not Saturday evening.

  • Guests & kitchen 15%

Reviews and the kitchen at work. A pure-veg claim has to be seen, not stated.

Agreed once, then held. Without a mix, an account drifts into being nothing but offers by the third month.

One post, taken apart

  1. 1Safe areaNothing important within 60 px of the edge — the grid preview and the WhatsApp thumbnail crop differently.
  2. 2One dish, filling the frameShot from above at about 45°. A full table photographs as clutter, however good the food is.
  3. 3PriceBottom-right, same place every time. A menu post without a price is a wasted post.
  4. 4Timing stripOpen till 11, kitchen closes 10:30. The most asked question, answered on every single post.
  5. 5Dark gradientNear-black behind the text. Food reads richer on dark and the type stays legible at any brightness.

04

The template set

  • Dish post

One dish, name in the condensed face, price bottom-right. Ninety per cent of the month.

  • Party hall

Wide hall photo, capacity and per-plate rate, booking number set large.

  • Offer post

Weekend or delivery offer. Loud badge, and a validity date so it can expire honestly.

  • Guest review

No photo. The quote in the accent colour on near-black, so the grid gets a pause.

Four layouts carry the whole month. That is what makes thirty posts possible at this price, and what lets your staff change a price without calling me.

05

A story that goes somewhere

  1. 1

    1 · The steam

Three seconds of the thali being set down. No text yet — let the food do it.

  2. 2

    2 · The price

₹180 on screen, unlimited roti and rice underneath it. One line, no adjectives.

  3. 3

    3 · The room

Families eating. It answers the real question — is this a place to bring your mother.

  4. 4

    4 · The ask

Location sticker and the call button. Dinner is decided in the next ten minutes or not at all.

06

Reels worth shooting

  • 01

    The thali being laid out

Ten seconds, one bowl at a time. No trending audio needed — the sound of the kitchen works.

  • 02

    Party hall, empty to full

Shot once during an actual tilak, with permission, and used through the whole season.

  • 03

    The tandoor at 8 PM

Fire and speed. Costs one minute of a cook’s time and works every single time.

Shot on your phone, edited by me. All three can be filmed in one visit to the shop.

08

When it goes up

  • Lunch11:00 AM

The thali post goes up as the kitchen opens, not at noon when people have already decided.

  • Dinner6:30 – 7:30 PM

Before the family decides. After 8 you are competing with food already cooking at home.

  • Party hallSunday, 11:00 AM

Bookings get discussed on Sunday, when the whole family is sitting together.

Balua Chowk, Motihari — on every post and every Story

A restaurant lives or dies on the location tag, not the hashtags. Eight is plenty; the geotag is what puts you in front of somebody standing at the bus stand deciding where to eat.

10

Captions are written too

  • Special Thali

    स्पेशल थाली — ₹180 में 🍽️ रोटी और चावल अनलिमिटेड, घर जैसा स्वाद। रोज़ सुबह 11 से रात 11 बजे तक बलुआ चौक, बस स्टैंड के पास

  • Party hall for 150

    तिलक, जन्मदिन या रिसेप्शन — 150 लोगों तक का AC हॉल। ₹350 प्रति प्लेट से, 11 आइटम। तारीख़ पक्की करने के लिए 30% अग्रिम। 📲 90000 00004

11

Where else it goes

  • WhatsApp StatusThe day’s thali goes on Status at 11 AM sharp. A real share of the bookings start here.
  • Google Business ProfilePhotos and offers here decide who walks in from a “restaurant near me” search.
  • Facebook pageParty hall posts do better here than on Instagram — different age, different decision.
  • Menu insertThe same dish creative printed A5 and slipped into the menu card. One file, two jobs.

One design, four places, no extra charge. Instagram is where it is posted; it is rarely where it is seen.

12

What I need from you

  • Tell me the day’s special before 10 AM, on WhatsApp
  • 8–10 dish photos a month — I will tell you the angle, you only need the phone
  • Permission from one party-hall booking a month to photograph the event
  • Message me the day a price changes. A wrong price online is worse than no post at all

This is the half that decides whether the month works. No designer can invent stock photos of your shop.

13

What gets reported

  • Reach and savesA saved food post is somebody deciding where to eat later this week.
  • Direction requests & callsFrom the Google profile. This is the number that actually becomes a filled table.
  • Party hall enquiriesCounted separately, because one booking pays for the whole year of this work.
  • What I would changeOne paragraph in plain Hindi. Not a dashboard screenshot you cannot read.

Follower count is not on this list on purpose. It is the easiest number to inflate and the least useful one you have.

14

What you get each month

  • 30 posts covering daily specials, offers and the party hall
  • Story versions sized for the phone, not cropped from the feed post
  • Festival and wedding-season creatives planned ahead
  • Menu card updates whenever prices change
  • Two ad creatives for weekend promotion
